Step 1

Your Medical Consultation

Embarking on your Allurion journey begins with a crucial step: the medical consultation. Our top priority is to ensure you achieve the best possible results, and that starts with confirming your medical suitability for the program.

During this vital consultation, our highly trained Allurion GP will delve into your health background, asking a series of questions tailored to your well-being. In some cases, they may need to collect a blood sample and measure your blood pressure to ensure everything is on the right track.

Once the assessment is complete and your eligibility is confirmed, you'll receive a personalized course of Omeprazole. Additionally, your placement date for the balloon will be reserved, allowing you to commence taking Omeprazole 14 days prior to the procedure.

Rest assured, your information will be shared with our expert Allurion Dietitian, who will reach out to you to arrange a comprehensive dietary consultation ahead of your balloon placement. This ensures that every aspect of your journey is attended to with utmost care and precision.

Step 2

Start Taking Your Omeprazole

As you approach your balloon placement day, a crucial step awaits you. Starting 14 days prior to the procedure, it's time to begin taking the Omeprazole medication provided during your medical consultation. This important preparation allows your body ample time to adapt to the medication and minimizes the likelihood of experiencing any significant side effects on the big day.

Rest assured, the quantity of Omeprazole you received during the medical consultation is sufficient for a 14-day intake leading up to your balloon placement, as well as throughout the entire 16-week process. This ensures your comfort and well-being as you embark on this transformative journey.

The dosage you will need to take is 20mg per day, this is typically 1 tablet once a day.

You will be issued with a Tracking Number once your medication has been dispatched so that are able to ensure it arrives with plenty of time.

Step 3

Your Dietary Consultation

In the weeks leading up to your balloon placement, an important step awaits: your pre-placement consultation with our highly skilled Allurion Dietitian. This crucial session is designed to understand your unique dietary requirements and provide you with a comprehensive overview of the foods you'll be consuming throughout the program.

To ensure a seamless experience, our dietitian will reach out to you two weeks prior to your balloon placement to schedule the consultation. This convenient video call session, lasting approximately one hour, allows for an open and candid discussion. We recommend finding a quiet space where you can comfortably engage with our dietitian and make the most out of this valuable interaction.

Please ensure that you take the 1x Akynzeo that has been provided to you upon waking on the day of your placement.

Step 4

Placement Day

The highly anticipated day has finally arrived! We kindly request that you arrive at the hospital 15 minutes prior to your scheduled placement time. This allows us ample time, if needed, to complete any necessary paperwork and ensure a smooth transition.

Rest assured, our dedicated Allurion GP will prioritize your comfort before commencing the placement procedure. The first stage involves swallowing the balloon, which is only slightly larger than a large tablet and effortlessly glides down within its protective shell. Once the balloon is in your stomach, you will undergo your initial X-ray to confirm its correct positioning. Upon verification, we proceed to fill the balloon, after which a second X-ray will be performed to ensure it remains properly positioned.

As part of your Allurion welcome pack, you will receive connected scales. Our team will provide a detailed demonstration on how to use them, and we will set you up on the Allurion Insights app, ensuring seamless connectivity and enabling you to hit the ground running on your journey.
